Hello everyone,

We use Allpix^2 for different purposes in our working group. In different simulation environments (independently from each other) the following error occurred, when a high number of particles is simulated:

bad_alloc
bad_alloc1573×774 67 KB

It was also observed several times that this error no longer occurs as soon as the transport of the charge carriers is not included in the simulation. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is and how to solve it?

Hi @Miriam

bad_alloc is usually a sign of the machine running out of memory to allocate. At some point, the kernel then decides to kill this process. You you maybe check if this is the case for you? Could you also check if you have maybe some histograms enabled with very very high granularity which might lead to something like this?
